The Space Vandenberg Internship Program is an 8-week full-time internship at the Vandenberg Space Force Base. Interns from Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, regional community colleges, and UC Santa Barbara will have the opportunity to gain specialized workforce training that bridges the gap between university research and aerospace technology innovation.

Eligibility

  • US Citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain & maintain Security Clearance
  • Open to all STEM majors
  • Full-time undergraduate students from Cal Poly-SLO, regional Community Colleges, and UC Santa Barbara
  • Successfully completed
    • At least 12 semester or 18 quarter STEM college units
    • 1 year of Calculus
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and not enrolled in high school at the time of application.

Selection Criteria

The Space Vandenberg intern selection committee will use the following selection criteria to identify students who are deemed as suitable award recipients:

 

Evidence of non-technical skills needed for a successful transition into a work environment such as maturity, flexibility, responsibility, personal initiative, and the ability to work and communicate well with others.

Ability to perform successfully in the rigorous coursework required to complete a science, engineering, or mathematics degree. 

Genuine interest in the aerospace technology sciences and for new and independent learning opportunities. 

The potential for the student to gain skills relevant to their career aspirations.
